Evolution is part of who we are. What began as a consultancy evolved into a product company, with the same intention: building technology in a more open, collaborative, and fair way.

Kaleidos' story

In 2011 we left our safe corp jobs to build a company rooted in our values, purpose, and positive social impact, being aware of our privilege. That’s how Kaleidos was born: collaborative, with clear boundaries, and driven by diversity, open-source, and fairness.

2011

14 people founded Ars Code. The name didn't last long, but the intention did: we became Kaleidos, and we decided to create our PIWEEK, a full week dedicated to innovation, every six months.

2013

Employee stock options are executed.

Kaleidos employees ownership rises from 40% to 50%

First KOSDEM.

2014-15

Taiga.io was born (our first open-source product).

Taiga.io was awarded Best Open Source Platform for Agile Project Management.

2019

From digital product consultancy, to digital product company.

First non-technical kaleiders.

From UXBox to officially Penpot

2020

Women represented 40% of our team.

Kaleiders bought 100% of the company. Full ownership.

2021-22

Our first investment round.

We became a digital product company.

We achieved an investment round Series A.

2023-24

First Penpot Fest.

Taiga.io moved into trusted partners, carrying a piece of our story with it.

2025

We moved from 40 to 37,5 working hours per week. Same salary, less time, and more intention.
